The Lozarithm Lens

Chippenham (Wednesday 3rd July 2024)

I was in Chippenham on this chilly July afternoon, and noticed the town has lost its Wilkinson's. As a result these ghost signs have been revealed. The other two windows read 'Grocery & Bakers' and 'Drapery & Boots'.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
John Lennon - Mind Games (Evolution Documentary Mix) (recorded July-August 1973, New York NY)
Whilst in Chippenham I was able to buy a copy of the current Uncut, whose cover CD contained tracks for a new box set that explored John Lennon's album Mind Games, not one of his best albums but sufficiently interesting to delve into the recording process, and one that I bought in 1973 when it was released.

THE EVOLUTION DOCUMENTARY
One of the six albums of mixes in the Ultimate Collection is the Evolution Documentary - a set of mini-documentaries that explore the development of each song from their very first demo state through to the fully-formed Master Take, via in-studio development, chat and out-takes.
Edited down from the original 16-Track multi-track tapes, demo cassettes and other source tapes, generally each Evolution Documentary runs through the song’s sessions chronologically, starting with demos or early takes and ending with an exploration of the Master Take and its overdubs; highlighting different, and sometimes hidden, parts of the multi-track while including all the best method, madness, and magic heard during the creation and development of the songs.
These mixes put the listener into the centre of the studio with John Lennon and The Plastic U.F.Ono Band, in order for you to deep-dive into his creative process.
