Lisa - Rockstar

Hot and muggy weather. Lisa’s Rockstar is blowing through the roof. It’s probably because I’m old but a lot of new pop music these days is trite, devoid of lyrical prowess or maturity. There are pop stars still giving a fresh take on things like Kendrick Lamar or Childish Gambino.

Normally I don’t like K-Pop, it has a synthetic sound with predictable peaks and troughs. It’s too clean and doesn’t have soul. You sift through 100 tracks and they sound all the same. I don’t have the feel to distinguish the finer points like I do for house, hip-hop and R’n’B and rock.

I have to say that it’s really refreshing to hear Lisa’s Rockstar doing wonders on streaming as it sounds hot. Being K-Pop sounding with that MIA sound and actually sounding fresh and raw. It’s definitely going to be on my sets.
