Life in Newburgh on Ythan

In defence of the realm.

This might look like a rocky mountain side, but the barnacles suggest otherwise! It is in reality the sea-weed covered top of an anti-tank obstacle dating from the Second World War.
A 12 mile long line of concrete blocks was built along the beach from Aberdeen North to Newburgh. The rocks set into the concrete were intended to tear off the tracks of any tank attempting to climb over the traps. Thankfully they were never put to the test.
