Captain's Commute

Twice a day this vessel travels around from Stromness to the fish farm off Toyness. It may look idyllic but it takes many a coarse battering in winter, especially when there's a sooth-easter.

The Creel Cottage flowers will get a fair chance today as it looks like being a flat calm day with plenty of sun. Although not in shot there are 14 types of geranium, plenty of different Astrantias, meconposis, Rodgersias, Lunaria rediviva (a star flower) and violas.

The Island of Cava is easily visible, centre pic (Hoy on right). The boat in the upper left is taking engineers to Flotta and the other small vessel has just anchored. It has divers on it who are going to dive on scuttled wrecks from World War I.

I now have to follow instructions from the current Mrs Creel (she is away across on Hoy for the day) as I have to hang out the washing, weed the tatties, change the water for the sheep, cut the grass and have the tea on the table on her return. All this if I know what's good for me. Someone has to do it as it's Scullion's day off.
