Dunters

Here in Orkney, eider ducks are called dunters, whereas my mother, who came from Northumberland, called them Cuddy's ducks, a reference to St Cuthbert, I think. Happy to be corrected!  I bet there are dozens of other names for them too.

We're lucky to have eighteen of them spending a lot of their time at the bottom of our slip at the moment, probably trying to keep out of the wind. It's a chilly one, I was wishing I had gloves on when Lottie and I went for our walk! Just want a bit more sunshine!
