7-spot ladybird ( Coccinella septempunctata )

Not a good shot but the best of a bad lot.

I didn't take many shots, Kat returning from her weekend event meant I hadn't even wandered the garden looking for blips.  Kat spotted this Ladybird in the poppies by the back door.

Of the 26 species of Ladybird in the UK the 7 spot is probably the commonest.  It is found all across the UK.  Being a predator of aphids and other small insects it is very much the gardeners friend.
