Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

This morning we all walked across the Meadows (after JR's gym, of course) to meet Zoe for a coffee. She drives her mum to her hairdresser nearby, so we can have a quick catch up every month or so. She's delighted to be on holiday now (she's a teacher).

But the cafe we'd arranged to meet in, as before, was closed. A quick change of plan and text to Zoe saw us meeting in one I've been meaning to visit for ages. It was great BUT it was very very NOISY! Archie actually coped much better than I did, especially when he sat on JR's lap, looking miserable.

By the time we came back the dreich day had brightened up and there was weak sunshine. I had walked most of the way there at (relative) speed, as JR had to keep stopping with Archie to inspect grasses, trees, bins... but then I got tired. In fact, I got the bus bus partly home, but still managed 5,979 steps. Had I known I would have walked a bit further to make 6,000!

I LOVE the start of Wimbledon. It always reminds me of the first day of the (Scottish) school holidays, and the blissful feeling of freeeeedom stretching ahead indefinitely. JR went off to the supermarket, then took Archie out again.

Archie seems to have noticed the message on the wall!

Just watching another episode of ‘Douglas is Cancelled’ and want to register my complete hatred of it!! How could it start so well, with the lovely Hugh Bonneville, quite a good idea, but turn into a completely awful thing? I’m just trying to watch it now, to see just how BAD it gets.
