Garnet schist tabletop

A really rainy day sends us off to the Granatium garnet museum in Radenthein.

The museum is set into the side of a gorge where magnesite and garnets have been mined for the last 120 years. The underground magnesite mine is still running, chiselling out 70000 tons of high quality magnesite per year.

This spectacular tabletop has garnets up to 50mm in size.
