Well Dressing

The practice of making and displaying pictures and scenes made of natural materials is widespread across the Peak District and Derbyshire in the summer months.
The practice is thought to have originated many centuries ago and is believed to have started as a celebration of reliable water supplies.
This is the well dressing at Rowsley, it is made of flower petals, sweetcorn, sheep's wool and other natural materials pressed into a base of clay.
