Wound up in Wexford

John Barry

The Irish seem to like their annual commemorative events.  Today it was the turn of John Barry.

The weather was kind, and two bands (Loch Garman Brass Band, and ourselves, the HFC concert band), some pipes and drums, and some reservists, assisted various dignitaries, including a minister (Sean Fleming, Minister for International Development and the Diaspora), the mayor of Wexford, assorted councillors and TDs, and a representative of the US ambassador, in honoring this scion of Wexrord who is known as The Father of the US Navy.

W refused to accompany me to Wexford for the above mentioned shenanigans - watching England make heavy weather of their match against Slovakia took precedence!  The match was still ongoing when I got home!

Earlier in the day, I did some weeding, planted persicaria, and decided we needed to buy more ground cover!
