Yorkshire bimble

Today your Gal needed air so she got some, bimbling aboard Biscuit over into North Yorkshire for a quiet* light lunch.

The sign outside the tearoom confused me. I know Edale of course as it isn't too far from home, so why are the distances to it & somewhere called Kirk Yetholm on a signpost up here in Gargrave?

Well, after Beans on Toast & cafetiere of Coffee, along with procuring some bags of sweets from their selection (nom nom) the answer was found not blowing in the wind my friends, but upon another signpost on the Leeds Liverpool Canal at Higherland Lock - The Pennine Way - of which Edale should have had me guessing already.

What I was unaware of before disappearing into a web search Rabbithole was that Kirk Yetholm was just over the border into Scotland. Everyday's a school day for a curious brain.

The ride home took me a very shunpikey route via many single width lanes & B roads to Sowerby Bridge where the Rochdale Canal was crossed (but not seen), up over Saddleworth Moor and down through Uppermill alongside the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

Along the way I spotted an old Crane, much smaller than the three behemoths that Ms.Arell blipped yesterday, but which Biscuit was inspired by and thus insisted on being photographed stood next to.

* The next table in the very lovely tearoom was occupied by an excitable group of kiddos - their parents on an adjacent table - that meant said light lunch wasn't quite so peaceful but they weren't rowdy so nothing some zoning out into a few more percentage points of an ebook couldn't cure ;-D
