Market Rasen Racecourse parkrun-sub 30 minutes
After 315 parkruns at 115 locations I am delighted with my time today. I finally smashed the 30 minutes barrier!
The Volunteer giving the first timers welcome mentioned that as it was a fairly flat course and on tarmac, lots of tourists run a PB. So, I took on the challenge. I positioned myself fairly near the front of the pack and with near perfect conditions dry, no wind, cool; I determined to run my best pace. Fab volunteers were there to cheer me on through the 2 and a half lap course. It did have a sneeky incline on the back straight which needed to be tackled 3 times, but that did not put me off. At the finish I was shattered, but checking my watch, I was delighted to see the possibility of a sub 30, an all time PB! Sure enough when the results were out my official time was 29:10. I had smashed 30 minutes! Elated.
Time for a post parkrun breakfast at Rabit, delicious. Then a walk round the lovely market town of Market Rasen where I popped into the haberdashery to buy some celebration yarn for a new knitting project.
