Lunch

A bee eater chomping on (probably) a dragonfly or similar. We'd been meaning to go on another bee eater hunt after our last abortive attempt, and the weather was better than forecast today (after buckets of rain yesterday). Now that the trees are leafier it's much harder to get photos -- though S brought secateurs this time and chopped some branches around our riverbank hide to give us a clearer view. Sorry about the messy background (and blurry photo), they weren't cooperative!

And now, having voted this morning, we've watched the early election results :( The RN candidate came top in our once impeccably left wing village, partly because of the "smart" decision of local socialists to stand a dissident candidate against the parachuted-in candidate of the united left front. I despair.

Because of the two-round system it's still not at all clear what the ultimate result will be. We can safely say that Macron's centrist group has been utterly crushed, and Marine Le Pen is smugly rejoicing. Well done Manu. Consoling ourselves with wine/beer and bacon sandwiches.
