2024 Thursday — Removing Driftwood
I’ve always wondered about the driftwood and who or how the wood was cleared because after the winter storms the Cayucos shore looks like a wild wilderness remote shoreline that never has visitors. Then when we step onto the shore the morning of July 4 to see the sand sculpture contest the sand is clean of debris.
We were at the shoreline this morning by 7:15. Sometime before 8:00 the workmen from a tree removal and trimming company had their chainsaws humming to slice some long logs into smaller stumps. It was annoying to be sitting on the sand enjoying the beauty of it all and hear the noise, but surprisingly it was over quickly; then we watched the men lift and carry sizable pieces of wood to their truck. It looked like quite a job and they were doing it well.
Now I know why the beach is clean of the debris on July 4th and who does the cleaning of the big pieces driftwood.
