Small Tortoiseshell - alternative view!!

We went to Hatfield Forest this afternoon.

It's only about 10 miles from home, but I'm ashamed to say we haven't been there for 20+ years since R used to camp there with the girl guides.

The weather was just right for a two hour stroll. We saw the usual ducks and geese on the pond, but the only birds to be seen were Magpies. Although we did hear the big metal 'birds' landing and taking off at nearby Stansted Airport, not exactly birdsong!!

This small tortoiseshell was kind enough to sit still long enough for me to capture!!

I also captured some cows, a squirrel and a very tired dog, but as this blip followed on from yesterday's blip, it made the selection.
