Sagrada Familia through the railings

The Sagrada Familia, its Antoni Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece, from 100 years ago . We came here also in 2002 "The year of Gaudi" he died when he was penniless and still working on it , knocked down by a tram , there were no blueprints but its still being built sympathetically.

My favourite story of him was when he was commissioned to build the Casa Mila and completely ignored the agreed plans he had with the owners, when we were guided around there was an American tourist who was seemingly outraged at the idea of him breaking the contract and said " but why would he do that?" the guide said brilliantly (with a shrug and heavy Catalan accent) "it's GAUDI"!
