Play With Fire
A flying visit to Chester today. Hadn’t realised it was a races day, so lots of extra traffic, not helped by the roadworks on the M56. And even when we finally got into the city, all the closed roads meant it was tricky to find somewhere to park. In the end, I tempted fate by parking in the same spot where Mrs C’s car was sideswiped by a bus last month. Fortunately, my car was unmarked when we returned to it.
Though we had less time to play with than planned, we were still able to have lunch in M&S and visit a few shops before moving on. Whilst Mrs C was in Lush, I was watching this chap trying to drum up support for his act. As well as juggling burning torches whilst balancing on his board, he had previously juggled a torch, a knife and a ball at the same time, as a bit of a warm up! But despite this display of balance, dexterity and skill, hardly anyone stopped to watch - and very few were moved to put any coins in his bucket. Possibly they’d seen it all before!
We were going to see mum and then go on to see my sister in hospital, but we were able to avoid a trip up the Wirral as my sister had been allowed a home visit this afternoon. Nice to see them both together, but I think there is still some way to go before my sister is allowed home for good.
Much less traffic on the way home, so a fuss free journey apart from the rain, which didn’t let up until we turned off the M6.
After tea, this evening will be mostly spent catching up on what’s been happening at the Austrian GP and the Tour de France.
