Green and cooling

Last night when Tommy was returning from London where he had been visiting friends at their house, he could not get a train to our home station as the line was closed, so he had to get an Uber home. When driving past the station he saw several police cars, a couple of ambulances and people sitting around receiving care from emergency services - it could only have been bad news for someone's family, always a sobering and upsetting thought.

Today was sunny and warm, we walked through the woods with Xena and as you can see there is plenty of shade to keep one cool when on a walk.

Later we went into the village and had a light lunch at our favourite café - while eating lunch there was a Red Kite circling above us which was quite close by, like foxes they have become so urbanised now, but as they are scavengers more than hunters I suppose it is easy to find road kill in urbanised areas.

I started getting organised for tomorrow when we go to Glyndebourne with friends. I made one dish for our picnic meal but will make the others in the morning. Adam and Anna arrive back from USA tomorrow but I think we will just miss them as they arrive around the time we are due to leave.

The US election debate on Thursday has everyone very concerned about their election candidates after Biden stumbled so badly, it was agonizing to watch - the voters have a really poor choice of candidates. But then I am not sure we are that much better here in the UK - we go to the polls on Thursday and it is very hard deciding who to vote for. The result seems to be a fait accompli, and a change in government is necessary but I don't believe that the alternatives are that much better. Time will tell.
