Seasonal Disruption

A few months ago brought the end to an incredibly enjoyable season in my life - last year my wife and I started a small Bible study group with a friend. In the following months a new face was brought along, and a short while after I had the pleasure of doing the Lord’s work by baptising this man in the river Trent.

From there, two of his friends came along to our study and became regular faces. Then another two faces joined us, and so we were a small gathering of eight, meeting every week to pray and study and learn more about our Lord.

Sadly, last year things took a turn when the original friend became bitter towards my wife and started behaving in a cold and (in my opinion) very unchristian way towards her. Soon after, the group we had dispersed and our season was over.

I was frustrated that this had all come to an end so abruptly…but now I look back and see how much joy and knowledge it brought me. I will always be fond of that time and would really consider turning the clocks back if it were possible. But that season is over, and God is leading me elsewhere now.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
