Sedbergh Music Festival - Final Day

The last day has arrived. J had booked for the Lunchtime session, but had been unable to get a ticket for the evening session. We had lunch at the church, then attended Kenneth Wilson Highway Cello. He has had a wide variety of jobs and has cycled from Hadrian’s Wall to Rome with his Cello performing every evening (hence the title Highway Cello). He gave us an interesting selection of music and poetry. The evening concert featured The BBC Singers. J hadn’t been able to get a ticket but fortunately extra tickets with limited view, were released and he was able to get one of those. The Singers did a brilliant job. They are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year and gave a performance of a variety of music from Thomas Tallis to Flanders and Swann. We even got to sing with them! We were privileged to sing a chorus of The Hippopotamus Song with them. Check that song out on YouTube if you don’t know it. An excellent evening and a very suitable climax to this excellent event.
