Consider the lilies

Phew! Yesterday evening was very gusty - I don't like sitting looking out of the window at the trees and shrubs going crazy! No real damage this morning, apart from my Geranium palmatum being a bit battered and several potted plants blown over. I spent a while sorting things out, putting soil back into pots and rewinding several climbers round their supports. I hate the wind - give me rain any day!

This afternoon I intended to finish repairing a wobbly piece of fence on the raised deck outside the lounge window. It had proved to be difficult to replace the rotted sections, so I simply added new timber on top and screwed it all together. Not ideal, but strong enough. Of course I ran out of screws and had to pay a visit to Homebase - very handy to be only a 10 minute drive away!

No obvious opportunity for a Blip, so it’s another flower picture. I’ve had this pot of lilies for a few years - they arrived in a free load of soil I was given! Unfortunately the soil also contained crocosmia, but I’ve mostly got rid of that!

Quote of the Day: ‘The only commandment I ever obeyed - ‘Consider the lilies.’ - Emily Dickinson.
