Friendly welcome

After a day off school to recover H and I headed to York. We were greeted by this friendly guy at the station before checking into our hotel. The Safestay in York is in a building once owned by one of the signatories to James 1 execution. We were shown to our room in the dungeon. They called it the basement but it smells like a dungeon! All the other room down there have labels to show what they were previously used for: winery, meat store, laundry etc. opposite our room was the stables, but our room has no label so we assume it was a prison cell. It has been painted quite recently but smells of drains!
