Family Dinner at Salt & Stone

Will and Chloe are in town for a week bookended by weddings, last weekend in Yosemite and this weekend in Tahoe. Will has always been our de facto  social chairman, so it wasn't surprising that he organized a family gathering at Salt and Stone last night. It was perfect weather and we were able to sit outside, and enjoy the view of the Kunde Winery vineyards as well as the colorful and delicious cocktails. Mine, in the foreground, was a melon cucumber prosecco spritz. The specialty cocktails have names like The Smoke Cleared Aperol, What She's Having and Hibiscus Margarita. We staggered waddled home after a very pleasant evening.

It was interesting that the water lilies in the pond close up at night and the koi all disappear beneath the lily pads. A couple of pictures in extras of Will, Chloe and Peter, and the sun setting on the hills across the road.

Today has been pretty laid back. I thought about vacuuming the rugs, but didn't. I thought about going in search of a little purse for my credit cards but didn't do that either. I did fix the zipper on my trusty little clutch bag that came with me from Berkeley, and ordered some Winnie the Pooh fabric for the backing for the second heart quilt and spent most of the afternoon working on it.

We will soon repair to the patio for wine. It may be an extended cocktail hour as we do our best to avoid the Biden-Trump 'debate' which will be broadcast on every single network television station. Nothing has happened to change the near stalemate that has existed between these two men for the last six months. The only things that might change minds will be if Biden mumbles or looks feeble or Trump forgets all his coaching and has (yet another) tantrum about the election that was stolen from him. Nobody cares about policy anymore.

I'll be fine with reading about it in tomorrow morning's paper.
