Roadworks

The water company have at last decided to tackle the longstanding leak at the crossroads. They have dug a big hole, put barriers around it and installed temporary traffic lights at the busy junction.  These traffic lights only allow traffic to move from one approach to the junction at a time.  There are also long periods when all the lights are red, and no traffic is moving - that's even when there are no pedestrians crossing (they can add further delays to traffic movements).  As a result there is chaos, with long queues of traffic on each of the four roads to the junction.  Of course, there is no activity in the hole, no sign of a water company van or workmen.

This disruption is scheduled to continue until Monday,.
