Cattle market and Lido in 1960’s

A very stressful, frustrating day. We were due to have our meters replaced with smart meters and the workmen duly arrived at 8am. But….they said they could not do the job due to the way one of our fuse boards was wired which apparently bypassed the existing meter! So they went away. A couple of hours later two more “emergency” technicians arrived and said they would replace the meters but that when they finished we would have no electricity as we would need to get a qualified electrician to come and OK their work….nightmare. Luckily we rang a local company we have used several times and the owner said he would come over. Ridiculous that Eon Next operate in this way. We do have electricity but some wiring needs to be redone on Monday.

This is a photo that I have put together for my Life Story book..The question is did you go on outings with your parents?
Two of the things I remember most are going to cattle markets on Mondays as my father would take calves to sell and sometimes buy heifers in an auction ring like this. One of my favourite summer holiday outings was to go to Weston-Super-Mare and go to the lido there …it had a big pool and very high diving boards which I did  go off a few times doing a dead man’s drop rather than a fancy dive!
Sadly the markets we went to closed in the 80/90’s and the lido also closed a long time ago too.
