Personal History
We have traveled to the rather wonderful Anglesey Transport Museum, which has a small campsite attached. One of the exhibits is this Panther Sloper single motorcycle which is part of my personal history as my father had one, with a large enclosed sidecar, around the time I arrived.
It has a long stroke single cylinder engine (~600cc) to provide the torque needed to haul the sidecar around.
Outside they have a Hawker Hunter trainer, from around the same time, the 1950s. Very different technology. {engage anorak mode} Some of the Hunters had Rolls Royce Avon engines, a variation of the Avon still drives some of the compressors used to push natural gas around the UK's gas distribution system! {end anorak mode}
Everything on display is in fine condition - Gill says she much preferred this museum to Cobbaton Combat where everything was dusty.
Normal service may be resumed tomorrow as we're hoping to see Twr Mawr Lighthouse.
