By the riverside
Today’s walk was a circular from the village of Frosterley in the Wear Valley.
It’s further than we usually travel, but it took me only 45 minutes to make the journey. It was misty on the tops, but then the views over the moors opened up.
I took hardly any photos. My app tells me that this is common nipplewort, an edible plant, but I was doubtful about the diagnosis. I think that the white flowers are hemlock water droplet.
Frosterley is famous for the limestone full of fossils in the river bed. It was used in one of the chapels in Durham Cathedral.
It was a scorching day. I came home, stripped off and lay in the cool before enjoying a shower.
