Bracken
JH came to visit today. When she arrived, the Eildons were in cloud, so the view was nothing special at all, but thankfully the cloud lifted and it turned into a lovely afternoon. After lunch we went for a short walk, starting where yesterday's walk had finished more or less and passed three ponds which had assorted bird life - Canada geese with quite well-grown young, a tufted duck with small offspring, also a moorhen with small young. There were a couple of roe deer, one with a fawn, near the third pond. We returned on the Southern Upland Way and passed the French-looking buildings which JP and I saw yesterday to get back to the beginning. It was a lovely short walk, especially by the ponds. Then it was back to the cottage for cold drinks and then tea.
