Helicopter Birthday treat

My 50th was at the start of the year, and Miss H gave our London friends the idea of a voucher for a helicopter flight for me as my present. I decided to wait till the better weather before I used it, and booked this Sunday as the date back in early May. I couldn't have chosen better as the weather was just brilliant.

The flight was wonderful, but I am a little disappointed with most of my pictures. The problem was that only a little window was open, and there were 5 of us in the rear of the machine so I couldn't really move a round and compose any shots, or look behind me, so it was a case of point and shoot. I got some of Burnsall which are great, but it looks more like a car park than a beauty spot, and the people going across the stepping stones at Bolton Abbey is great but a bit out of focus.

There is something about this photo that sums up the dales in all its glorious natural beauty. My only slight regret is that it isn't instantly noticeable that it is taken from a height, but I know it was!

I am hoping for my 60th that I can hire a helicopter and have the whole of it for me just to take photos and not worry about blocking the view of other people, but if any of you get the chance to go in one of these pleasure flights go for it... you won't regret it.
