Steven Burke - Olympic Hero

I was commenting on Friday that I have a cracking job, well today has been another of those 'I know why I do it days'.

The Fund I manage granted a cycling project in Pendle £30 k earlier this year to built a new of road community cycling hub nr Barrowford, Pendle and we had a photoshoot for our annual report on the site. It just so happens Steven Burke one of GB's Olympic cyclists is a local lad born and raised and has put his backing behind the scheme. All the money is not raise yet but they waiting the outcome of an Olympic legacy bid next to complete the funding. It's going to be a great community scheme to introduce all ages to cycling and it also includes provision for specially adapted cycles for the disabled. Steven Burke is an absolutely charming lad quiet spoken and not at all the superstar for an Olympic and world champion. His medals have come in the team pursuit. He was off on a training ride following the photo shoot and then time trialing this evening. If you want to see him in action he's racing next week 17th July around the streets of Colne. Race starts at 8pm
