Fractious Table, Anyone?
refractory adj 1 resisting control or authority; stubborn or unmanageable. 2 resistant to treatment or cure. 3 difficult to fuse, corrode, or draw out. noun heat resistant ceramic material. (Penguin English Dictionary).
My son noticed the "refractory table" in an old newspaper. When I saw a new advert by the same firm I looked to see if they'd fixed the spelling. Well, they had changed it, but with a non-word.
I wonder if they have any refectory tables.
