We're off to Edinburgh today to stay with our daughter for a couple of nights. As always there's plenty of things to sort out before we go away, even for a short time. Organising the cats and fish for our neighbour to feed, watering all the plants, packing the bags, loading the car - all the usual stuff.
An early lunch and then a cuppa outside in the sunshine, then we set off at 1pm. As we drove alongside Loch Awe it began to rain very lightly and this continued on and off for the next three hours! Not the best journey - busy and wet.
We stopped briefly - as did the rain - at the David Stirling memorial just beyond Doune. I've Blipped him before - every time we drive to Edinburgh probably! Colonel Sir David Stirling, OBE, DSO, was founder of the SAS, as the Special Air Service is better known. He excelled in a totally new form of warfare in WW2. The grass around him is always neatly cut, but unfortunately for Sir David the local birds use him as a perch and it would be rather good if they hosed him down from time to time!
Quote of the Day: 'Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.' - Winston Churchill.
