"What I like about the square plates is the lift of the lip around the edge. Just high enough to keep the crumbs on board. And I have noticed, when you are using one of these plates, that you hold your knife with the tips of your fingers, not rammed into your fist, which is what you do when you eat off one of those large dinner plates you bought at the charity shop in Crewe while we were waiting for the rail replacement bus service to take us to your uncle's funeral at Morecambe Bay."

I went to the park with my book and a beer and a deckchair to enjoy the last of the evening's sunshine and to recuperate mentally after a right bloody frustrating time of it in the kitchen attempting some bike maintenance following yesterday's incident. Looks like my wheels may need replacing - oh the joys!
Earlier on there'd been a trip over to Glasgow with a carload of stuff to be deposited at my eldest girl's flat. We dumped everything off and then went with her to fill up on coffees and ciabattas at Kothel on Great Western Road before heading back East again. With her living in Glasgow these days and the other child currently away on holiday it's just us two grown-ups and the cat here at the moment. He keeps looking for them, he's even been crying in their room just now...bless.
