Marjorie's ramblings

Ornamental bramble

I bought this plant early in my time here. It grows on the north facing wall of our walled garden and lights up the darkness there. I bought it from Bradley Gardens when that had a growing nursery.

The stems are white and thorny. The leaves are acid yellow.

I don't remember seeing the flowers before. They are a gorgeous colour but are disappointing to look at when they open.

I went into Hexham to do food shopping in Aldi. Then I stayed at home to try to keep cool. It has been too hot for me today.

The tamest of all the blackbirds has convinced me that he would like to eat suet pellets inside the garage. I assume this means that the jackdaws do not come to compete for the food. I am happy to oblige.

I had my evening meal at Margret's. She had bought a game pie and it  was delicious. I thought it would be too strong in flavour but I was wrong. We enjoyed Ruby Red strawberries from Aldi. They are our current favourite variety.
