Approaching Arran

An interesting morning looking at the hydro site at Cruachan which generated huge amounts of power, mostly underground out of sight. We couldn't get on a tour as two large coach parties had just arrived but the information available was fantastic. John particularly enjoyed seeing the machinery that was used in the past (and contractors!). So little health and safety evident in those days - no ear defenders or hard hats!! (Opened in 1966)
We moved on to look at the castle at Kilchurn plus seeing the town of Inverary, with wonderful reflections on the water of the mountains and the harbour. (Extras)
We were able to get an earlier-than-planned ferry over to the island of Arran so are now sitting watching the sea with mountains beyond and, possibly, a sunset later!
