Kiko Bun
Spent the morning talking with son - about kayaking, music, and (very carefully) about his relationship and how they are trying to make progress. At lunchtime we went back down to the harbourside for a day long music event - mainly reggae, ska and dub musicians. We met a music friend of L’s from Oxford, who was delightful, I took to him instantly, so we had a good time together. And I certainly wasn’t the only person there in their 70s:-)
There were 6 music acts. Kiko Bun was the first - he sings and raps to his own backing tracks - he was excellent. And seems such a lovely person. The next was Holly Cook (daughter of Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols) who has a fabulous voice and a very good band behind her. My feet were beginning to ache at this point so I went out for a rest, and spent a comfortable hour with my tribe:) with a flat white in the cafe of our arts cinema, the watershed, and read my serious book by Rory Stewart.
Then back to refind L and AJ - for an excellent band called the Skints. - who play reggae, ska, and ska-punk. I knew most of the songs, it was fun dancing about, and amazingly, there were short people in front of me so I could see pretty well. I was tired by then, so left L there and got the bus home, missing the last act. Portia was pleased about that, as she really does not expect to get her tea so late.
A very nice day.
