Who Will Buy

The answer? Quite a few people, thankfully. We had a great morning out at the car boot sale. Despite arriving only 5 minutes after the gates opened, we found that all the hard standing pitches had been taken and we were being directed on to the sports field. Definitely the busiest I’ve seen this site for many years - probably down to it being the first fine Sunday for many weeks so plenty of pent up demand. Fortunately the punters turned up in equally large numbers and trade was quite brisk at times.
In logistical terms, we shifted a lot of stuff - quite a few empty boxes by the end. In financial terms, a modest profit would be the kindest way of describing the few pounds we had left after paying for the pitch and some refreshments. And we also resisted the urge to buy more stuff to replace that which we had sold!
More than anything, it was just really nice to be outside in fine weather, meeting loads of people (only some of whom we knew) and chatting to them. It’s something I really appreciate these days after going through the enforced isolation during the pandemic lockdowns. I guess I’m more of a sociable animal than I thought!
Hopefully, we’ll do another car boot soon - at a different site - and move on even more of our surplus possessions.
But, for now, all is safely stored back in the garage and two very tired people are slumped in front of the telly.
