Checkered
It was good to go for a walk with B again, catching up after two weeks.
The day wasn’t sunny, but warm, and I was feeling pretty tired after our 10,000 steps.
Many people were out and about, so we didn’t spot a lot of wildlife, except for the insects. The checkered beetle in my main blip is a tiny parasite - its larvae feed on wasps and bees - but it is a very rare and protected species, and I don’t think I had seen one before.
In the extra: A marbled white - not as rare, but still a nice find. There aren’t many butterflies around this summer. I suppose they suffered in the mild winter and cool, wet spring.
