The parents...

...always said that if I didn't work hard enough at school I'd end up in the workhouse. Well, today, because I have worked hard enough I could afford to go to the workhouse!

This is the Workhouse and Infirmary in Southwell. 

Met up with a pal from Doncaster as this is almost exactly half way time wise, 45 mins each.

In the extra we had the same reaction when we saw this, which made us both chuckle, it was of Carry On Doctor! What else?

I visited the workhouse ten years or so ago and the National Trust has done a fab job of expanding the areas you can visit. It is a remarkable social history but we both came away very reflective about social care past and present.
