Combe GIbbet.

We had a great walk at Combe GIbbet a high spot near Inkpen where only 2 people were ever hung here. They were 2 lovers having an illicit affair who killed the son of one of them as he had discovered the affair. The GIbbet was erected on a long barrow and the public hanging took place in 1676. A gruesome history but a wonderful high spot from where you can see 5 counties.
