Indian Pokeweed

Today I spotted a new plant in our garden. Obviously it is an Indian Pokeweed. The birds love the seeds so that's probably the way it found its new place. It will grow up to 3 meters, hm, that's the wrong place for this size. We'll see...
"Ancient Chinese reports indicate that the plant was already known in China between 1000 and 500 BC and was used as a medicinal and food plant. Young leaves are used as a vegetable, and seeds as a snail repellent. The root (Radix Phytolaccae) was used as a substitute for the black nightshade (Atropa bella-donna) for intoxicating purposes, and also as an additive in the preparation of sake.
