Alban Day
Today was "Alban Day", the day St Albans remembers the martydom of Alban, who gave the city its name. There is a pilgrimage through the town, with 12 foot puppets representing Alban and other characters, re-enacting his arrest, trial and execution by the Roman authorities for hiding a Christian priest fleeing persecution and declaring his own Christianity. The procession was accompanied by many other groups, including these children dressed in colourful costumes - although I never established what they were intended to represent.
I don't normally photograph children or post their pictures on public sites, but these children were taking part in a public parade, photographed by hundreds of people including press photographers, so I don't think there is any objection to blipping this image
