Shantymen
A trip to Woodbridge and the Long Shed today. The intention was to talk to the folk who are constructing the replica of the sixth century Anglo Saxon ship that was buried at Sutton Hoo with King Raedweld?
Had a good yarn withs a chap who talked about the problem of sourcing iron (not steel) ship nails and the complexity of transitioning from 1 inch planking to a 2and half inch thick gunwhale stringer……..
It’s not often that you get to have these kind of conversations.
If we lived 30 miles closer I’d probably not have my own boat but be a volunteer here.
However the boat was much too big to photograph in the building so I chose the shanty men outside!
