Orchids, orchids, more orchids, and a butterfly

Around the time of the Summer Solstice, the orchids are out in all their glory.

Last year I saw for the first time the magnificent orchid field, fortunately protected by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. Only a couple of days ago, they had to react when a herd of cattle were seen among the orchids. They were moved on without fuss.

I wasn’t the only one taking advantage of the rare summers day to return. I actually bumped into my brother who was telling a couple from Derbyshire where they could see the rare Mountain Pansies.

My main blip is of a Greater Butterfly-Orchid and my extras - a wider view and a Mountain Pansy.
