At the top of the
Craggy Gardens trail.
Risee and I ran away from home today for a little mountain time. We headed up to Asheville to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway to visit Craggy Gardens and Mt Mitchell. Craggy is known for its rhododendron trail but we missed them. However, the mountain laurel was at its pink and white peak.
Mt Mitchell is always 20 or 30 degrees cooler than lower elevations and it did not disappoint! We had a very pleasant walk in 65F temperature knowing that at home us was probably 95…and it was!
The views from the overlook here were finished by lots of clouds but I was able to find Table stock and Hawksbill Mountain which are about 50 miles away near where Tate lives.
Not many hiking miles but it was so great to just be in the mountains.
