Flypast

A couple of days ago while we were driving through France I got a call asking if I could play the Last Post at a funeral today.

It was for a gentleman who was 103 and three quarters! He had served as a technician in the RAF during the war, had escaped from being a prisoner of war of the Japanese, survived a plane ditching into the sea as it was on fire, and amongst other medals had a Burma Star. He had a guard of honour from RAF Leeming and there was an absolutely amazing flypast of a Hawk Jet which I found incredibly emotional.

This was the best photo I got of the flypast (thankfully my musical skills were better than my photography skills ). I nearly did an emergency blip but then realised that in its own way this captures the day and the moment, and especially the wonderful sunshine.
