Peony bud with visitors

Yesterday I took a couple of quick shots of my peony buds, and it turned out that there was a tiny ant on one of them. And I found out that this is very common. The ants are feasting on nectar that oozes from nectaries at the base of the buds. They don't damage the flowers, but actually defend them from other insects that would be harmful. And they disappear when the buds open.  So I took some more photos today, and this time got two ants on one bud.
