The Case of the Lost Keys
Overnight, a set of house keys has gone missing, at least an hour has been spent retracing steps, searching undergrowth, dredging the river and interrogating suspects. Thus far, nothing.
Since we only received two sets of keys from the estate agent, an urgent visit to the local locksmith was made to ensure the number of house keys is n+1.
Then to Edinburgh to collect a hired catering BBQ unit from Andrew Wilson & Sons, caterers to HM the Queen (presumably they're not called on as much by her maj these days). We're running our final Scout BBQ/AGM catering for 150 or so parents and young people. I arrived at the scout hall with plenty of time, but cursed my luck when I noticed the gas bottle valve was damaged and effectively un-usable. A completely safe and H&S compliant bodge was constructed and thankfully didn't blow-up and the BBQ could continue in relative safety. A lovely night with some nice words from parents as Nancy and I bow-out of the scout group we've been leaders of for many years.
Nancy has however thrown her hat in the ring for the vacant Chair of the Group role (something she can do from a distance). I'll remain involved in scouting on the District Trustee Board (again, a role I can perform without a weekly drive up the A68).
Arrived home to messages from the various local suppliers to prepare us for deliveries of new step-ladders and a petrol lawn-mower tomorrow. Great excitement.
