Solstice

Summer solstice and what a glorious day. We saw our first marbled white butterflies of the year in the meadow - at last and a relief to see even a few. Hopefully more butterflies will appear if the warm weather continues.

After walking Merlin with Andy and Bertie the whippet, I made a big chocolate Victoria sponge. I made a raspberry jam for the filling using the fruit we picked yesterday evening. Once the weather had cooled after dinner we walked to the allotment. There were several other plot holders there and we had a nice chat with each other.

Grateful:
- For a perfect summer day.
- For chocolate cake!
- For gentle conversation with friends in the village that we met on our walks today.
