Music Festival Day 5

I started my day off with a visit to the Chiropodist. I have been struggling for a while, so it was great to finally get help.
Then R visited. She joined me for lunch and a concert. The church are served lunch on days when there are afternoon concerts, so she enjoyed quiche and salad, then a concert. Four Hands One Piano treated us to a variety of pieces, finishing with Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. Normally performed as a ballet, or orchestral piece, we were told that Stravinsky developed it from the piano piece we heard. Apparently there was a riot at the first performance, perhaps as it has a pagan theme involving a girl being sacrificed. I found it more evocative of the fight for life amongst the plants fighting their way to sunlight and survival.
This was not all. In the evening there was a concert from the Sedbergh Orchestra. I was surprised to find so many members of the Orchestra, I hadn’t realised we had so many talented musicians in Sedbergh.
